The 7th German-Russian Logistics Forum of the Logistics Alliance Germany, held on October 1, 2020 as an online event, drew more than 160 participants with its interesting expert contributions. The Association for the Development of Logistics Alliance Germany (Förderverein LAG e.V.) very much hopes to be back in Moscow next year to host an in-person event during TransRussia 2021.
On October 1st, the Logistics Alliance Germany (LAG) hosted its 7th German-Russian Logistics Forum as an online event under the motto “German-Russian Cooperation – Logistics Networks – Transport Corridors – Infrastructure.” The board of directors of the Förderverein LAG e.V. association would like to thank all participants and attendees for their contribution to a successful event. The board extends a particular thank you to the Ministry of Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalization of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania; Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V.; and the Russian chapter of the German Logistics Association (BVL) for their support. Furthermore, we would like to thank two speakers for their opening remarks: Steffen Bilger, parliamentary secretary for the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and government coordinator for freight transport and logistics, and Christian Pegel, Minister of Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalization of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Expert contributions to the discussion were given by representatives of the Rosatom, Rusatom Cargo, Rusatom Greenway and VTG Tanktainer GmbH companies, as well as Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V. and the Russian chapter of the German Logistics Association (BVL).
The event was well attended with 160 participants, who showed great interest in the talks and presentations as well as in the panel discussion that followed. Amongst those following the talks with interest were numerous participants from Germany and Russia, as well as from x other countries. The forum addressed topics related to current developments in the expansion of infrastructure connections and transport corridors for linkages along east-west and north-south routes. The presentations and discussions focused on connections between Germany and Russia by sea, especially the northern sea route, as well as rail transport services.
Holger Dechant, a member of the board of directors of the Förderverein LAG e.V. association and CEO of Universal Transport Group, underscored how the event marked a successful start for the association in the organization of online events. He spoke of being very pleased about the numerous members of the Förderverein LAG e.V. association who took part in the event. Digital events such as these enrich the activities of the logistics network and will further increase the draw of the association for new members, he concluded.
Mirco Nowak, chairperson of the Russian chapter of the German Logistics Association (BVL), emphasized that for Russia, it is important to push forward with the interlinking of existing transport corridors, the further development of the Silk Road, the Northern Passage, the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) as well as the so-called Middle Corridor in order to play a greater role in the global logistics market.
Stefan Schröder, chief advisor of Logistics Alliance Germany, pointed out that the online format of the event ensured the seven-year-old tradition of the German-Russian Logistics Forum could continue in spite of the difficult conditions created by the coronavirus pandemic. Together with the board of the Förderverein LAG e.V. association, he is very much hoping that the LAG will be able to return to Moscow next year to host an event at TransRussia 2021.
The board extended a thank you to the KOERNER Eventkommunikation GmbH company for the technical implementation of the event. Thanks to professional simultaneous translation, both German- and Russian-speaking attendees could easily participate in all aspects of the forum.
